How to fix it
Rewrite the joke or claim so it is about a specific person, behavior or policy rather than a whole group.
Good to know
Watch for statements that attribute a negative trait to everyone in a protected group, including as comedy. Does NOT count: criticizing a specific person's actions, discussing policy, satire aimed at hateful ideas.
