What triggers it

Sharing another person's private content, imagery or personal information (address, phone, documents) without consent, including doxxing and hidden-camera footage of private moments.

What Snapchat says

“We also prohibit non-consensual sharing of another person’s private content, imagery, or information, including sharing personally identifiable information (PII) for the purpose of harassment (i.e., “doxxing”).”

How to fix it

Blur addresses, plates, documents and faces of people who did not consent, and do not film in private spaces without permission.

Good to know

Readable house numbers with street names, license plates tied to a named person, ID cards, mail, phone numbers, screens with personal data, or intimate hidden-camera footage. Your own details shared on purpose, and public business addresses, do not count. Covert filming in private places and exposing a child's location are covered by “Secret filming in private places or a child's location”.

Can FYProof spot it?

A full check of your video looks for it in what's shown, what's said, the words on screen and the caption. What a check finds is an estimate, not a guarantee.

  • Video: looked at for this rule
  • Speech: looked at for this rule
  • On-screen text: looked at for this rule
  • Caption: looked at for this rule
  • Hashtags: not for this rule

Platforms change their rules often. This page sums up what Snapchat publishes; it isn't legal advice.
