What triggers it

Sponsored or paid content about candidates, parties, ballot measures, PACs, 'go vote' messages, or debated issues (abortion, immigration, environment, guns, etc.).

What Snapchat says

“Snapchatters are free to express their own political opinions, but Snap restricts the paid promotion of political messaging to traditional ad formats in approved markets (which excludes the European Union).”

How to fix it

Don't accept payment for political posts; political ads must go through Snap's ad platform.

Good to know

Only applies when the political content is paid or incentivized. Unpaid personal opinions are allowed (but see “Election or political issue content on Spotlight”).

Can FYProof spot it?

A full check of your video looks for it in what's shown, what's said, the words on screen and the caption. What a check finds is an estimate, not a guarantee.

Platforms change their rules often. This page sums up what Snapchat publishes; it isn't legal advice.
