What triggers it

Repurposing others' content without significant commentary or editing: clip compilations, Shorts compiled from other social sites, song collections (even with permission), content uploaded many times by others, mostly non-verbal reactions, reading others' text, songs only pitch- or speed-shifted.

How to fix it

Add voice commentary, critique or a storyline, appear on camera or explain your contribution, and recut instead of re-uploading.

Good to know

Signals: other platforms' watermarks or usernames that are not your own, no uploader voice, reaction videos with only facial expressions, clip compilations, songs only pitch- or speed-shifted. A watermark with your own handle means you are cross-posting your own work, which is not reused content.

Can FYProof spot it?

A full check of your video looks for it in what's shown, what's said and the words on screen. What a check finds is an estimate, not a guarantee.

  • Video: looked at for this rule
  • Speech: looked at for this rule
  • On-screen text: looked at for this rule
  • Caption: not for this rule
  • Hashtags: not for this rule

It doesn't recognize songs or match clips against copyright catalogs, so it can't tell whether you have the rights to them.

Platforms change their rules often. This page sums up what YouTube publishes; it isn't legal advice.
