Praising or showing extremist or criminal groups
TikTok may take the video down.
Last verified
What triggers it
Promoting, praising, recruiting for or materially supporting violent extremists, violent criminal organizations (cartels, gangs), hateful organizations or mass/serial killers, or showing their symbols, flags, speeches, manifestos or attack footage. A seemingly neutral quote from such an actor without clear framing also counts.
What TikTok says
“Content that may appear neutral, such as featuring a quote from a hateful organization or individual, must make clear that there is no intent to promote it.”

How to fix it
Remove the symbols, quotes or footage, or add clear critical or educational framing on screen and in the caption.
Good to know
Look for logos and flags of designated terrorist or hate groups, gang or cartel branding used admiringly, shooter names or manifesto text, fundraising or recruitment for such groups. Does NOT count: documentary or education with critical framing, criticism or satire, fiction not made by such an actor, discussing a violent political organization without promoting violence.
Can FYProof spot it?
A full check of your video looks for it in what's shown, what's said, the words on screen, the caption and the hashtags. What a check finds is an estimate, not a guarantee.
