What triggers it
Individuals (not legitimate businesses) selling or asking for alcohol, tobacco or vapes; selling prescription drugs, live animals outside allowed contexts, endangered species, historic artifacts, hazardous materials, human body parts, recalled goods; fake or stolen documents, fake reviews for discounts, unauthorized streaming devices or exam-cheating products.
What Instagram says
“Fake reviews, implicitly or explicitly incentivising users to provide reviews in exchange for discounts, refunds or free items.”
We last checked this against Instagram's page on .
How to fix it
Remove the sale offer or route it through a legitimate business account; never offer rewards for reviews.
Good to know
Watch for 'selling my...', prices or 'DM to buy' for any listed item, 'free product for a 5-star review' offers, fire-stick/IPTV 'all channels free' promos. Businesses may sell alcohol and tobacco (18+ limit).
