What triggers it

In countries where Meta still uses third-party fact-checkers, content rated False, Altered or Partly False.

What Facebook says

“Content that has been debunked as "False, Altered, or Partly False" by non-partisan, third-party fact-checking organizations”

How to fix it

Do not repost debunked clips or claims; verify before posting.

Good to know

Watch for reposts of widely debunked clips or claims. 'Missing Context' ratings get a label but usually no reduced distribution. In the US, Community Notes replaced fact-checking and Meta said it would stop demoting fact-checked content.

Can FYProof spot it?

A full check of your video looks for it in what's shown, what's said, the words on screen and the caption. What a check finds is an estimate, not a guarantee.

  • Video: looked at for this rule
  • Speech: looked at for this rule
  • On-screen text: looked at for this rule
  • Caption: looked at for this rule
  • Hashtags: not for this rule

Platforms change their rules often. This page sums up what Facebook publishes; it isn't legal advice.
