Why Doesn't My TikTok Qualify for Creator Rewards?

TikTok video not eligible for Creator Rewards? What TikTok says about originality, the one-minute rule, qualified views and content that doesn't qualify.

Updated

  • TikTok

A video can get plenty of views and still earn nothing from the Creator Rewards Program. TikTok publishes the rules in a few places, and the wording doesn't always match. This guide sticks to those official pages (checked October 2026), notes where they differ, and says where TikTok is silent. It is general information.

The short version

  • TikTok wants "original, high-quality content over 1 minute long" (Creator Academy).
  • It can't be a Duet, a Stitch, a Photo Mode post, or an ad, paid promotion or sponsored content.
  • It needs at least 1,000 views, and only "qualified" views count toward rewards.
  • Content kept off the For You feed is also kept out of the program, and some reasons are about your account, not the video.

The rest of the video rules

TikTok's video requirements also say the video must follow the program terms, Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, Creator Code of Conduct and Copyright Policy. The program tips suggest pre-checking your video for infringing soundtracks before you publish. They also point to TikTok's Unlimited Sounds Library, or your own original sounds, for audio.

Meeting the list doesn't guarantee a payout. TikTok's program terms for the EEA say "not all content you post to participate in the Creator Rewards Program will collect Rewards." Creator Academy adds that videos you delete or set to private "will automatically be excluded from the Creator Rewards Program, and their rewards will not be paid out" (video eligibility).

Length

Creator Academy says "over 1 minute long." The program terms say "one minute or longer" (EEA) and "at least 1 minute" (US). TikTok doesn't say how it treats a video of exactly 60 seconds, so finishing a little past a minute fits every version.

Qualified views

TikTok's FAQ says qualified views exclude fraudulent or paid views and are counted like this:

  • A watch time of at least five seconds.
  • Views with an "I'm not interested" tap don't count.
  • Multiple views from the same account count as one.
  • Search views need a watch time of at least 30 seconds.
  • Views must come from a country where the program is available: the United States, Mexico, Brazil, South Korea, Japan, Germany, the United Kingdom and France.

The EEA terms add that your own views are excluded, and they word the threshold as "at least 1,000 qualified views," where Creator Academy says "at least 1,000 views on the For You feed." The US terms exclude metrics "from the Creator or accounts acting in connection with Creator to inflate metrics," and don't repeat the 1,000 figure.

None of these pages gives a rate per view. The EEA terms say rewards are "calculated dynamically based on the country of the video views origin, the number of video views, video engagement and authenticity of a video view." The US terms say rewards can be based on "total legitimate video views and other signals reflecting the popularity of, and engagement with" eligible videos, and that TikTok can cap each creator's rewards monthly or annually.

Originality

TikTok's originality policy lists four kinds of unoriginal content:

  • Content copied completely from others.
  • Content largely repurposed from another source without adding any creative edits.
  • Content combined from multiple sources with little or no additional information and/or content value.
  • Content with someone else's visible watermark or superimposed logo.

It says unoriginal content is ineligible for monetization programs like Creator Rewards, which "uses 'originality' as a key metric in its rewards formula." The FAQ calls out video content that "is copied from others or has minimal original input or edits." The EEA terms ask for "original content and produced entirely by the creator and/or adds new ideas to preexisting content." The US terms make the creator responsible for each eligible video's "ownership and originality."

The Community Guidelines list "Reused or unoriginal content posted without creative edits, such as clips that show someone else's watermark or logo" as ineligible for the For You feed, along with "Low-quality or minimally edited content, such as short clips made from GIFs only." The FAQ says content that can't go on the For You feed can't earn Creator Rewards either.

Other reasons a video is ineligible

The FAQ says "content ineligible for the For You feed will not be eligible for the Creator Rewards Program" and lists:

  • Low quality: "split screens, meaningless reactions, low-quality images, or slide videos."
  • Clickbait: content that "lacks meaningful value and is primarily designed to attract followers, likes, or advertisement clicks."
  • Advertising: personal or business contact information in your profile or account info.
  • Inappropriate or disturbing: for example sexually suggestive content, excessive body exposure, or scenes that could upset or shock viewers.
  • Security issue: unusual or suspicious account activity, such as artificial engagement or manipulating the rewards system.
  • Community Guidelines violations: content on your account that breaks the Community Guidelines.

The Community Guidelines put it in looser terms: "Content that isn't eligible for the FYF may also be restricted from monetization."

The reason can also be your account. Per the FAQ, only Personal accounts qualify. Business accounts and accounts tied to governments, politicians or political parties don't. Creators must be 18 or older and based in a listed country. Joining takes 10,000 followers and 100,000 video views in the last 30 days. Five video violations in the past 30 days makes an account ineligible, and five total account violations makes it permanently ineligible. TikTok's appeal guidance adds that an account with 5 or more ineligible videos in the past 30 days "may be disqualified." Under the Creator Code of Conduct, severe violations can restrict your access to Creator Programs, including monetization, for three months, and for egregious behavior the restriction may be permanent.

What TikTok doesn't say

  • AI-generated video. None of the Creator Rewards pages or terms we read mention it, so treat claims that it is banned, or fine, as unofficial. The Community Guidelines do require a label on AI-generated or significantly edited content that shows realistic-looking scenes or people, and say unlabeled content "may be removed, restricted, or labeled."
  • How much borrowed footage is too much. "Minimal original input or edits" isn't defined.
  • How "high quality" is judged. The EEA terms say "as determined by TikTok in its sole discretion."
  • Resolution. "1080p or higher" appears under the criteria for the Additional Reward, an extra payout on top of the standard reward. TikTok doesn't say a lower resolution blocks the standard reward.

If a video is marked ineligible

Per TikTok's appeal guidance, video disqualifications show in your Inbox and on the program dashboard. You can appeal a video within 80 days and an account disqualification within 30 days, once per disqualification. TikTok suggests adding supporting images, such as photos from filming or editing, with private or personal information removed. It says account appeals normally take up to 14 days, and that winning appeals on ineligible videos may help get a disqualified account back into the program.

Check it before you post

TikTok's Content check lite checks a video against the For You feed eligibility standards before posting. It is currently web-only, TikTok calls the result preliminary, and its page doesn't mention the rewards rules. If a video is made ineligible for the For You feed or otherwise restricted, TikTok says that information appears in its analytics tool.

FYProof checks the video, caption and hashtags against each platform's published rules before you post, including TikTok's Creator Rewards criteria. Results are estimates, not guarantees.

Before you post

  • [ ] The video runs a little past 60 seconds
  • [ ] It's a regular video, not a Duet, Stitch, Photo Mode post, ad, paid promotion or sponsored post
  • [ ] Your own footage, voice or commentary carries it, and any borrowed clip has new ideas or creative edits added
  • [ ] No one else's watermark or logo
  • [ ] No split screens, meaningless reactions, low-quality images or slide videos
  • [ ] It delivers real value and isn't just bait for follows, likes or clicks
  • [ ] No personal or business contact information in your profile or account info
  • [ ] You pre-checked the video for infringing soundtracks before publishing
  • [ ] Exported at 1080p or higher (TikTok lists it with the Additional Reward criteria)
  • [ ] Your account is a Personal account, you're 18+ and based in a listed country, and the account is in good standing
