What triggers it

Content that isn't age-appropriate for teens under the default 13+ setting: personal self-harm or ED stories, graphic imagery, alcohol/tobacco/cannabis/firearm sales, drink recipes, weight-loss sales, near nudity, implicitly sexual content, strong swearing, risky stunts like jumping from heights. Accounts that mainly post such content are hidden from teens entirely.

What Facebook says

“we go further for teens and avoid recommending additional types of content - like photos or videos that may be seen as implicitly sexual, strong swearing, or risky stunts like jumping from heights.”

How to fix it

Bleep strong swearing, avoid stunts and implied sexual content, and keep mature topics from dominating the account if teens are your audience.

Good to know

Watch for strong swear words (especially in the first seconds), stunts from heights, implied sexual content and drinking.

Can FYProof spot it?

A full check of your video looks for it in what's shown, what's said, the words on screen and the caption. What a check finds is an estimate, not a guarantee.

  • Video: looked at for this rule
  • Speech: looked at for this rule
  • On-screen text: looked at for this rule
  • Caption: looked at for this rule
  • Hashtags: not for this rule

Sounds other than speech, such as music, aren't checked.

The same rule on Instagram
