Cookie Notice

Version 1.0 · Effective October 9, 2026

This notice lists every cookie and every item FYProof stores in your browser, what each is for and how long it stays, and how to choose what is optional. It is part of our Privacy Policy.

What we store

Cookies are small files a website keeps in your browser. "Browser storage" works the same way but stays in your browser and is never sent to us by itself. Here is everything, by kind:

Needed for the site to work

NameTypeWhat it's forHow long
__Host-vp_sessionCookieKeeps you signed in, so the pages you open know it's you.Until you sign out; at most 180 days, or 30 days without a visit
__Host-vp_oauthCookieProtects a "Sign in with Google" while it is under way. (When you sign in with Google.)10 minutes
__Host-vp_signupCookieLets the "Confirm your email" link sign you in, but only in the browser you signed up in. (When you sign up with an email and password.)24 hours
__Host-vp_gsignupCookieHolds a new Google sign-up while you answer the sign-up questions. (When you sign up with Google.)15 minutes
__Host-vp_agegateCookieStops another try at signing up after an answer that says you are under 18. (Only after that answer.)24 hours
__Host-vp_wsCookieRemembers which workspace (yours or a team's) you picked. (When you switch workspace.)400 days
vp_inviteBrowser storage (this tab)Keeps a team invitation's code in this tab while you sign in to accept it. (When you open an invitation link.)Until you close the tab
fy_roastBrowser storage (this tab)Remembers that you asked for the caption roast, or for plain mode. (When you pick one.)Until you close the tab
fyproof.carryBrowser storage (this tab)Carries the caption, hashtags and platforms you checked with the free caption check to the upload form, so you don't type them again. Deleted once the video is uploaded, or when you press Start fresh. (When you press "Check the video too".)Until you upload the video or close the tab
fy_consentBrowser storage (kept)Remembers your privacy choices, so we don't ask again. (When you make a choice.)12 months
challenges.cloudflare.comScript from another siteCloudflare Turnstile: tells people from bots on the sign-up, waitlist, report and tester forms. Cloudflare sees your IP address and browser signals for that check. (Only while we have it switched on.)As Cloudflare sets it

Analytics (optional)

NameTypeWhat it's forHow long
fy_ftBrowser storage (this tab)How you found us: the page you landed on, the other site's name and a link's campaign tags. Sent only with a form you send (sign-up, waitlist, caption check), to count which channels work.Until you close the tab
fyproof.viaBrowser storage (this tab)Marks a sign-up that started from the free caption check, to count it. (When you come from the caption check.)Until you close the tab

Marketing (optional)

None today.

We don't use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking or third-party analytics.

How we decide what is on

  • Needed for the site to work: always on. You can block them in your browser, but then signing in and signing up won't work.
  • Optional (analytics or marketing): in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, off unless you turn it on. Everywhere else, optional analytics is on unless you turn it off. If we ever add something optional that sends information to another company (for example an ad pixel), we will add it to this list first, and in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland we will ask you before it loads.
  • Global Privacy Control: if your browser sends this signal, we treat it as a request not to sell or share your information: anything marketing-related stays off, and optional analytics starts off too.

To work out which of these applies, our server looks up the country of your IP address in a database we keep ourselves (IP Geolocation by DB-IP). We don't keep the address for this. If we can't tell where you are, we treat you as being in the EEA.

Your choices

Open Your privacy choices (linked at the bottom of every page) to turn optional items on or off at any time. Turning something off removes what it stored. Your choice is kept in your browser for 12 months, and we keep a record of it (a random id, your choices, the date and your country, not your IP address) for 2 years as proof of what you chose.

Changes and questions

Each version has a number and a date at the top. When we add a cookie or storage item, this list changes first. Questions: privacy@fyproof.com or support@fyproof.com.
